Children of Divorce Find Healing | Dr. Margaret McCarthy & Alexander Wolfe on The Dr J Show ep. 195

Professor Margaret McCarthy has been teaching at the John Paul II Institute since 1992. She received her doctoral degree in theology at the Pontifical John Paul II Institute at the Lateran University in Rome. Since then, her teaching and writing has focused on various themes belonging to theological anthropology relative to the question of sexual difference, but also relative to the larger nature-grace question. She is the editor of the book Torn Asunder – Children, The Myth of the Good Divorce and the Recovery of Origins (Eerdmans, 2016), and author of Recovering Origins (Catholic Univ Press, 2022). She is the Editor of Humanum: Issues in Family, Culture, and Science, serves on the editorial board of the English edition of Communio: International Catholic Review, is a member of the Academy of Catholic Theology, and is a consultant to the USCCB’s Committee on Doctrine.

Alex Wolfe grew up in western Pennsylvania and studied Theology at DeSales University. Through the experience of seeing his parents get divorced while he was in college, Alex decided to study at the John Paul II Institute for Studies on Marriage and the Family in Washington, D.C. There, he completed the Master of Theological Studies degree and coursework for the Ph.D. Alex is now the Assistant Director of the Office of Marriage, Family, and Respect Life at the Diocese of Arlington, where he focuses on marriage preparation and healing for children of divorce. Beyond his duties in Arlington, he travels with Life-Giving Wounds to help other dioceses start up regional ministries for adult children of divorce.

No, They Can't

Kids are too young to do lots of things, including choosing their gender. But when it comes right down to it, no one has ever switched sex, from male to female, or female to male or anything else for that matter.

Wanted to address a bit of controversy from a FB activist with the handle: Billy Ray Bradford.
Here’s the MO of the Pride Activists: Always engage in ad-hominem, and don’t bother to do any research on your target.
Lies spread around the world before the truth can even get up.
Here are the facts:
1. Dr. Morse is, in fact, married, has a child by birth, another by adoption, and has fostered another 8 kids.
2. She has written extensively on Catholic Clergy Sex Abuse, which you can find at the National Catholic Register, on YouTube, and on the Ruth Institute website, as well as interviewing other survivors about their experiences on the Dr. J show, keeping up the “Advice from a Survivor” Blog, and publishing two major reports on Clergy Sex Abuse which you can find on the Ruth Institute website.
3. This activist doesn’t address a single assertion or supporting piece of evidence from the Refuting the Top 5 Gay Myths in his comment.
Too bad he didn’t do his research on Dr. Morse or what she ...

Ohio Abortion Amendment Benefits the Ruling Class

In a tragic but not unexpected win last night, Ohio voters passed Proposition 1, which enshrines a right to abortion in the Ohio State Constitution.

“I’m honestly heartbroken,” said Ruth Institute president Dr. Jennifer Roback Morse, Ph.D., “but ultimately, I’m not surprised. It was hard to imagine a scenario where the ruling class would allow the people of Ohio to win in this election.”

“In order to assuage voters’ fears about the negative consequences of this amendment, the Sexual Revolutionaries had to go into overdrive. There was too much riding on the line for them: a win in a red state, providing legal protections for abortion, and including transgender privilege. It was an unholy trifecta.”

“Winning in a red state is a major coup for such a left-wing position. Not only do they despise the rest of us in flyover country, (and anyone who disagrees with them on the coasts) they also want to brow beat us into thinking that everyone is against us and there is no ...

Protect Pregnancy Care Centers' Religious Liberty

“I hope I put the fear of God in them: Sooner or later, someone in the vast pregnancy care center network is going to get sued,” said Ruth Institute President Dr. Jennifer Roback Morse, Ph. D., of her recent trip to conduct training for pregnancy care centers in Ohio. “They need to get their paperwork in order to protect themselves now. Too many in positions of power would like nothing better than to shut them down.”

“Especially in light of the recent passage of Issue 1, enshrining abortion in the Ohio State Constitution, organizations trying to protect the right to life should be on high alert,” Morse said.

“Nationwide, pregnancy care centers outnumber abortion clinics four to one. It’s important that the pro-life movement does the groundwork to keep it that way. There are documents and protocols to protect pregnancy care centers from being easy targets for lawsuits.”

“Primarily run by women, pregnancy care centers are the real women's movement. Others who claim to speak for all women, have no right to do so,” Morse said.

“Abortion clinics try to get as many women in and out the door as quickly as they can. Pregnancy care centers, on the other hand, spend time listening to scared mothers, offering them the help they need to deal with their current fears. Sometimes pregnancy care centers work with a woman for months before and after the birth of her child.”

“In light of the studies showing abortion can cause women lasting emotional harm, as well as an elevated risk for breast cancer, who cares for women more: pregnancy care centers, or Planned Parenthood?” Morse asked.

Also while in Ohio, Morse was a guest on Cincinnati’s Sacred Heart Radio show, “Driving Home the Faith,” with Fr. Rob Jack. Morse is a regular guest on the show, but this was her first in-studio recording with Fr. Jack.

She also spoke at Ruah Woods, an organization that creates curriculum for schools to teach Theology of the Body, based on the writings of Saint Pope John Paul II, instead of traditional sex ed.

“I strongly support their mission,” Morse said of Ruah Woods. “I spoke on ‘Replacing the Sexual Revolution with a Civilization of Love.’ By offering a further understanding of how the Sexual Revolution has caused our world so much destruction, I hope to bolster the good people at Ruah Woods in their ministry to teach children and young adults the truth about God’s plan for human sexuality.”

“I was blessed by my time in Ohio to meet with so many amazing people fighting to take back our culture from a society seemingly bent on self-destruction. I met face to face with several Ruth Institute supporters and thanked them personally for their contributions to keep the work of the Ruth Institute going.”

“All in all, this was an enriching trip. I wish our fellow Happy Warriors in Ohio my heartfelt gratitude for all the life-saving and soul-saving work they do.”

ADDING ONE MORE: News Roundup 11/27/2023

This just missed our deadline, but this story from the Federalist outlines and fleshes out the issues with the Biden admin foster care rules for adults who don't affirm:

"The Biden administration has proposed new rules for foster care, which would treat any parent rejecting LGBT ideology as a child abuser. The public comment deadline is today, the Monday after Thanksgiving, a bureaucratic middle finger to the public it is supposed to serve. ...These sorts of garbage studies are necessary for the LGBT movement to justify itself, especially as it has shifted to an obsession with “LGBT youth.” They long ago dropped the pretense that this is about consenting adults, or that they seek some sort of live-and-let-live settlement. Rather, they are determined to claim other people’s children for themselves and their movement.

Trying to take children away from “non-affirming” parents is the predictable result of the lies that children are born LGBT, and that sexual and gender identities are the essential core of our being. The belief that nothing is more authentic or important than sexual desire and “gender identity” is what lies behind the LGBT movement’s fanatical drive to groom other people’s children. "
